It's definitely doing it's job...but with a marathon on the trail in two weeks there is a time clock ticking now. :-)

I think the biggest area in question will be the section of trail that runs by the lake since that will be the last part to drain (and I think it is part of the marathon course)...and maybe the section directly underneath Parmer.

The good news is that even the one foot gone from Wednesday to today made a noticeable difference. The sign in the middle of the park (pictured above) is not standing in water anymore.

I drove down there Friday after work and it was stil pretty bad.

It rained 2.5 in @ my house Friday. It's raining again, with much more to come.

Good news: flood gauge down to almost 11-1/2 feet as of 5pm Sunday

Bad news: More rain (supposedly) coming

Here is some good news.

The park is currently closed but I walked over to it today from Champion Park.

Despite all the extra rain we have had, the flood gauge is down just below 9 feet and the next 10 days look mainly dry.

So I suspect it will be drained in time; however, no idea what the conditions will be but they can't be worse then the 30k Belt race a number of years ago where it poured hard just before that trail race. Frankenthon is mainly croncrete anyway and the east side crush granite looked good today.

Is the park open yet? The only place I know how to get there is near the water feature. I'd like to run there on Sat.

I see Red posted on another thread that it was open today. Awesome, thanks

When I ran there yesterday the flood gauge was down to 6 feet, starting to look much better. The section of the trail that runs right along the lake should be drained off in 2-3 days.

The trail is kind of a mess but I bet it gets cleaned up this week. The county has already replaced the crushed granite on most of the other washed out sections around Champion Park. (Assuming it's the county anyway, the cones that were there had WCPR on them, though I thought Champion Park was City of Cedar Park responsibility.)

There are two county Parks and two city parks on the trail.

County Parks = Champion Park and Twin Lakes Park (where YMCA is, its not a YMCA only park)
City Parks = Brushy Creek Lake Park, Brushy Creek Recreation Park(ball fields Frisbee golf, ...)

The other parks towards the east are Mud Parks/Play areas.

So it makes sense that the County cleans up Champion.

The county is responsible for the Trail except the section that belongs to the City which includes the loop that went under water.

Other ways to access the trail are Brushy and Great Oaks, Champion Park (just a little further east down Brushy Creek main entrance on Brushy Creek Road). Also you can enter the trail on the other side of Parmer at the baseball fields or from the YMCA on 183.

Thanks for the info, murfdog. I have wondered how the responsibilities were divided along the trail since it runs through so many jurisdictions.

The trail beside the lake is completely above water now, but really muddy. Hopefully they'll come back and re-apply some crushed granite. They appear to have already repaired sections that are higher, like near the sign. The park is open.

rained HARD last night, but it looks right now like the Park may have gotten "only" a couple of inches. Lake LBJ got NINE. Holy cow. Big dry cold front will dry everything out this afternoon.

Sounds like you bolt-neckers will have fantabulous marathon weather on Saturday AM, in the 40s!

Yeah, I was sweating this morning as the rain was coming down, lets hope so, this Frankenmonster doesn't float too well.
Yup, looks good temps wise.
