Distance Challenge Kick-Off Party Sunday 9/20 at 2 « Thread Started on Sept 18, 2009, 5:56pm »
We’re less than two weeks away from a new season of the Austin Distance Challenge, and what better way to celebrate than to throw a party! Join us at RunTex Lake Austin from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 for food, drinks, and music as we ring in another year of all your favorite fall and winter races. We’ll have information available for the seven events of the ADC, and the opportunity to meet with hundreds of other runners who have entered the challenge. Still lacking that final team member for the Silicon Labs Marathon Relay? This Sunday would be the perfect time to recruit!
Rumor has it that ARC's own Russell Secker will also be available to sign his new book "Running Across Countries" and might have some copies available --with an ARC discount as well. Come on out and get ready for the fall racing season!

More than a rumor - I'll be there! - thanks, ARC Board.
My book describes the agonies and (brief!) ecstasy of my fantastic 9 week journey across Europe this spring, road racing across six countries and averaging 45 miles a day without rest days. Those of us that made it to the finish 400 miles north of the Arctic Circle covered almost 3,000 miles. Hopefully it will entertain and help to inspire your own upcoming "distance challenge" in Austin this season.
"Running Across Countries" retails for $12.99 plus shipping on Amazon, but I'm very happy to offer a signed copy to ARC members for $10 at Sunday's event.

Sweet! Thanks, Russ! We hope to make it by there to get our copies.
