Under Course Maps, the official website says: "The 2009 courses will be different than previous years. Course maps for the 10K and 5K routes will be available soon"
I wondered how they would be able to do last year's route, with the new city guidelines. Well, good! Maybe won't have to slog up Lavaca in mile 4 on the new route.

I emailed John Conley, Race Director, and he had a cool reply:
"Hi David, The new Texas Round Up course is pretty radically different from the past four years. It starts and finishes in front of the Bob Bullock Museum on Congress Avenue and runs south to 15th St. before going west to Lavaca and on to Guadalupe. Both 10k & 5K routes run together on the drag and turn eastbound onto dean Keeton. The 5k route peels off at San Jacinto and runs thru the UT campus [if we can secure permission. We are working on it] while the 10k route proceeds eastbound under IH-35 and turns south on Chicon. The route circles the State cemetery and returns westbound on 11th St. to the Capitol complex. I'm still in the process of getting permission and I'll have it certified in early February. It's a much faster route for both distances. I'll send you a map as soon as the route is approved. Best regards, John"
Me, I like it!! Awesome running past UT and through East Austin.

Hey everyone. I just registered a friend for the Texas Round Up and now she cannot do it (Remembered a scheduling conflict 4 min after I clicked submit ) and now I have an extra entry into the race. Sadly entry into the race is neither refundable nor transferable. If anyone wants the entry please let me know. Your results will say Sara but if you are out there more for fun than for stats this is a cheaper alternative to regular race entry fees.
